Billionaire John Dorrance III (76) and his Finnish-born wife Gundel left behind their Wyoming ranch in 1994 and moved to Ireland, taking up residence in a Georgian house in Dartry, Dublin 6. The wealth came from John ‘Ippy’ Dorrance’s stake in the family business Campbell Group, whose soup cans inspired Andy Warhol’s graphic art. He is the grandson of John Thompson Dorrance, the American chemist who discovered a method to create condensed soup.

Ippy Dorrance sold his stake in the company in the 1990s. The family continues to have a substantial shareholding, although it has overhauled the board in recent years to appease activist shareholders.
