The man, aged is in his 40s, sustained serious injuries, prompting gardaí to launch an appeal for information in a bid to determine the cause of the crash.

“Gardaí in Longford continue to appeal for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Longford town, on Saturday, April 20th, 2024,” said a garda spokesperson.

“Gardaí urge anyone who witnessed the collision or who was traveling on the N4 in the Aghadegan area at the time to come forward.

“Those with camera footage, including dashcam footage, are particularly encouraged to share it with investigating Gardaí.”

That appeal comes as gardaí press ahead with a separate investigation following a single vehicle collision that occurred in Aughnacliffe, Co Longford just hours earlier.
