Focus on Uganda

ATU St Angela’s students and staff are travelling to Uganda in July 2024 to deliver vision assessment and bring much needed eye glasses to the community. Please donate children or adult’s glasses. A team of us are heading back to Uganda this summer and will glady recycle any old eyeglasses you might have lying around. Glasses of all types, kids and adults.

For any reading glasses, if you happen to know the strength of them it would be really helpful to include it on a note. No cases needed. Drop off points at McGoldrick’s Centra Dromahair and XL Dromahair so huge thanks to Joe and Gavin for their support again this year. Thanks everyone.

Bowls Club

Dromahair Development Association blotto draw

The next blotto draw takes place in the Depot on Tuesday, April 30, and Tuesday, May 14. Jackpot is €6,450. (every two weeks all through the year) If not won jackpot increases by €50 after every draw.

CONFIRMATION IN GURTEEN

Sacrament of Confirmation was scheduled for last Sunday, April 28, in Gurteen Church. Bishop Paul Dempsey, was coming to confer the Sacrament on 39 young people of fifth and sixth classes of three schools Carn, Cloonloo and Mullaghroe (closed) Well done to all the children, teachers, their family and sponsors for a happy day and a memorable meeting with Bishop Paul. This was one of his last ceremonies as he has been assigned to the diocese of Dublin.

COLLECTION

Thanks to everyone who contributed €640 for defibrillator funds at last weekends Churchgate collection. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Well done also to the collectors.

EASTERN HARPS 50/50

Eastern Harps 50/50 draw on April 15 had a jackpot of €674 – and the winner was Barry Gallagher, Gurteen. The club is very appreciative of all the support throughout the year.

Gurteen bingo is on each Friday night at 8 p.m. There is a jackpot of 1,800 in forty five calls or less. Lotto raffle jackpot €250. Support is greatly appreciated.

GURTEEN CELTIC

The Gurteen Celtic lotto draw last week was not won – numbers drawn were 3, 13, 16 and 28. Winner of the €50 was Janice Dwyer, Gurteen Battlefield, Culfadda. The jackpot is now €3,400 and the draw for April 28 will be taking place in Róisín Dubh, Gurteen.

There will be a concert in the Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen on Saturday, May 4, at 8 p.m. featuring Donal Clancy, Brian McGrath and Damien Quinn. Donal is son of the legendary Liam Clancy of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem he is a great guitarist and singer. Brian McGrath is on banjo and Damiern is on Bodhran. Connaught Champions

Congratulations to our under-13 Boy’s Community Games Indoor Soccer team who won the Connaught final on Saturday the 20th. They will now compete in the national finals in May. Condolences

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Martin Hallinan of Youghal, Cork and formerly of Easkey, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and in the care of the staff of St Catherine’s ward, Mercy University Hospital, Cork. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Enniscrone-Kilglass Community Games

Kilglass Enniscrone Parish

Last Saturday, April 20, was a great day of celebration in our parish as the children of Kilglass National School made their first Holy Communion. This Mass took place at midday in Kilglass Church and we wish them every blessing on this special day.
