Incident at Sligo house resolved as Gardaí arrest man for criminal damage

Gardaí in Sligo have arrested a man following an incident at a house at St Brigid’s Place in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Gardaí, ambulance and fire brigade personnel attended at the scene where a man gained access to a porch roof and began throwing slates in the direction of Gardaí. Negotiations with the man went on for some hours.

A Garda car was extensively damaged with its windows smashed and a Garda patrol van was also damaged.

Arising from the incident, a man aged in his 30s, was arrested for criminal damage offences and is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at an unspecified Garda Station in County Sligo.

In a statement, Gardaí said no injuries have been reported at this time
