East Glendalough School was ablaze with bright and eye-catching colours on Sunday for an annual fundraiser organised by the parents association.

The paint was well and truly flying for the colour run, which saw participants run a route marked out at the Wicklow town school, while volunteers threw an array of different colours in their direction as they passed.

The school first held the colour run last year, and it proved such a success it was decided to make it an annual event on the school calendar.

Those taking part were advised to don old clothes, shoes and sun glasses that they wouldn’t be afraid of getting all coloured-up.

The large gathering for the start of the event featured plenty of local families keen to support the school in their fundraising efforts. Those outside of the school community were also keen to lend support.

The well-attended run started at 1pm but was preceded by a warm-up to make sure everyone was prepared for the task at hand.

The spectacular colour run then got going as participants went crazy with the paints with dazzling plumes of different shades filling the air.
