Legal advice: ‘I think my dad’s angel dust conviction is hindering my career. Has he the right to be forgotten?’

The incident is easily found by searching my family name online, but I’d like reports of it to be erased

Query: Dear Mary Frances, I am writing to seek guidance regarding a matter that has been concerning me for quite some time now. My father was convicted several decades ago for the use of ‘angel dust’ growth hormones, which became illegal in Ireland. This is something he profoundly regrets and is embarrassed about to this day.

It was in the papers at the time and hugely embarrassing for us as a family. It had a big impact on my parents’ relationship and still, to this day, it’s not openly discussed.
