HSE approach to disability tests for children is ‘incentivising’ parents to sue, says judge

HSE failings are effectively encouraging parents of children with disabilities to sue for access to services and leaving the taxpayer with considerable legal bills, the High Court has found.

In a highly critical ruling, a judge found that parents who issued proceedings on behalf of their child ended up getting priority when it came to the handling of complaints about lack of access to disability service assessments.
