The chaotic murder of a young man this week occurred following a series of violent assaults which gardaí are probing as a potential motive for the events that led to his death.
The use of a high-powered rifle, discharged some 20 times in a built-up residential area, has also led to concerns about the access young criminals have to serious firepower.
