Commentator Gary Neville has revealed his love for hit Irish crime drama Kin, urging his former Manchester United teammate Roy Keane to watch the show.

The drama, which follows a Dublin family through a gangland war and stars Clare Dunne, Charlie Cox, Aiden Gillen and Ciarán Hinds, was released on Netflix this week following its success on both RTÉ and the BBC.

The pair were discussing their latest films and TV show favourites with their podcast co-hosts Jill Scott, Ian Wright and Jamie Carragher before recording the latest episode of Stick to Football.

Their behind-the-scenes chat covered everything from birthday celebrations to Wright’s love of Shrek and Toy Story 3 before Carragher offered his own recommendation.

"Have you seen Kin?” he asked the group. In response, Gary Neville, raising his hands, gave his own gushing opinion of the drama series.

"Oh my god. I love Kin,” he said. “I love Kin.”

Keane, who admitted he is yet to watch the Irish crime drama series in full, asked whether it was “as good as Peaky Blinders”.

Both seasons of the hit drama earned rave reviews, with fans eager to learn when they can expect a third instalment.

Last year, RTÉ Director General Kevin Bakhurst told the Sunday Independent that he “binge-watched” the entire series “from beginning to end” when he first took over in the national broadcaster and making a third season is one of his goals.

"I always try to catch the Nine O’Clock News and Prime Time. I am a big fan of The Late Late Show,” he said.

"When I first came here I binge-watched the whole of Kin from beginning to end. I loved it. It’s one of my ambitions to make Series 3.”

It is yet to be confirmed whether the acclaimed show and the Kinsella crime family will return for a third season.

The award-winning series first premiered on RTÉ in 2021, with both seasons arriving to the BBC – including a primetime slot on BBC One for the first season – last year.

Season one of the show created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly arrived to streaming giant Netflix this week.

Glowing reviews of the series have considered it one of the best Irish television shows in years.
