Person taken to hospital by Air Ambulance following Co Fermanagh crash

One person has been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Co Fermanagh.

The collision on the Clones Road, at Newtownbutler was reported just after 6pm on Wednesday evening.

Emergency services attended the incident; the road remains closed and diversions are in place.

The NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) confirmed one person had been taken to hospital in Belfast following the incident.

"The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 6.06pm on Wednesday May 7 following reports of a two-vehicle RTC on Clones Road, Newtownbutler,” said a spokesperson.

"NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic and two emergency crews to the incident.

“The Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS crew on board was also tasked to attend by ambulance control.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken by Air Ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.”

The PSNI have been approached for further comment.
