Protests over Trinity College Dublin’s links with Israel achieved their goal of forcing the university to take action — with its leader inspired by previous student activism

At the front of Trinity College Green, Palestinian flags were draped down the walls, and students perched on window ledges encouraged drivers on College Green to “beep for Palestine.”

The campus — ordinarily a tourist hotspot — was closed to the public last weekend and in the early part of this week after dozens of tents were erected in a college square and students began a sit-in protest.
