Relations between Dublin and London are said to be soured after the immigration and Brexit border spat. But that’s just at a political level. In the ordinary world, relations go on just as before – which is to say that the intermingling of family, friends, social and cultural links between Ireland and Britain remain a part of everyday life.

The Dublin-London flights are as full as ever, and the six million Brits of Irish descent usually have an affectionate view of Ireland. The Irish passport is among the most popular – and third most powerful – in the world.
