Roads in Macroom are set to close from the afternoon of Saturday, June 22 until after midnight the next day during the town’s Music Festival.

Macroom Music Festival will take place on June 22 and to facilitate the event, parts of the R-618, the L-9308 and the L-93081 will close from 12:30pm that day until 00:45 on Sunday, June 23.

The R-618 (former N22) Main Street will be closed from Masseytown Junction to Chapel Hill Junction.

The L-9308-0 will close from the South Square and Sleaveen to the junction with New Road.

The L-93081-0 West Square will also be closed.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the duration of the closure.

Cork County Council has devised an alternative route for traffic that would normally use these roads.

Traffic heading west on the R-618 (former N22) has been instructed to follow the R-618 north from the Coachford Junction and head across New Bridge. Road users are to then take the L-3423-0 Rusheen Road, the L-3424 Cooleyhane Road and the L3418-33 Masseytown Road back onto the R-618 at the Masseytown Junction.

The route applies in reverse for Eastbound traffic on the R-618. The route also applies in reverse for westbound traffic travelling to Sleaveen.
