Kerry clubs are better off to the tune of over €1.4 million this week, all thanks to the Sports Capital Programme.

The sports club and organisations are to receive in total €1,431,166 in equipment grants under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (‘SCEP’).

The announcement of the funding was made this week by the Minister for Sport Catherine Martin and Minister of State for Sport Thomas Byrne.

In total, 47 Kerry clubs were successful in their applications with Minister Martin adding that further allocations under the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme, including those for capital works and capital works tied with an equipment component, are set to be announced at a later time.

Some of the Kerry clubs that will receive funding are Killorglin Rowing Club who will receive €84,000 (for purchase of rowing equipment); Sliabh Luachra Cycling Club who will receive €43,719 (for the purchase of gym equipment, bike racks and additional bikes); Knockanure GAA who will receive €19,504 (for purchase of a defibrillator and a mower) while Castleisland Pitch & Putt will receive €30,000 (for the purchase of maintenance machinery).
