Budding young actors from Causeway Comprehensive enjoyed a walk along the famed red carpet last Wednesday evening as the school’s annual TY Oscar’s night took place.

The student led event – with help from TY co-ordinator Margaret O’Mahony and the school’s English department – was hailed as huge success and was the culmination of weeks and months of rehearsals, filming and editing behind the scenes.

In total, 18 short movies shot for the event, all of which had their ‘World Premiere’ at the event. The scripts were created by the students themselves with assistance from their English teachers and after this, they were both filmed and edited by Billy Donegan.

Teacher Ruta Kanisauskaite told The Kerryman this week that the “red-carpet event was such a fantastic success” and that “it was lovely to see all the parents and students there celebrating the creativity and hard work that was put in by our very own students”

“This event highlights the amazing opportunity that is offered to our Transition Year students here at Causeway Comprehensive,” Ruta continued.
