Man arrested over robbery and assault of US tourist in Killarney
Man arrested and detained in Kerry in relation to robbery and assault
Gardaí in Killarney investigating an incident of robbery and assault that occurred on Port Road, Killarney, have arrested a man.
A search operation took place this morning, Thursday May 9, 2024 in Killarney and a man, aged in his 20s was arrested in relation to robbery and assault.
He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Kerry Division.
The incident occurred on April 22 shortly after 8:30pm when a woman aged in her 80s was approached by a lone male and robbed of her handbag on Port Road, Killarney. Garda said investigations are ongoing in the matter.
Earlier this week the victim, an American tourist, thanked the people of Killarney for their support and she appealed for the public's help in resolving the case.
