Andy McDonnell: Conall McKeever excelled for Louth in Leinster semi-final win over Kildare

Conall McKeever was given the task of shutting down Niall Kelly and he couldn’t have done a better job, snuffing out the centre-forward’s attacking threat and always putting him on the back foot.

It’s not a bad time to be a follower of Louth. After Sunday’s victory over Kildare, Wee county supporters have another Leinster senior football championship final to look forward to. The favourable result also ensures Louth will be at least a number two seed for the Sam Maguire Cup.

The spectacle itself was not one to remember as a neutral but that won’t matter to anyone in the Louth camp. Judging by the poor attendance for the double-header at Croke Park, it would have made sense to play the fixture in a packed Páirc Tailteann.
