Caoimhín Reilly: Louth must insist that their home All-Ireland SFC match is in Ardee

Louth have beaten Cork in Ardee twice in the past few years and should insist on Páirc Mhuire being used as their home for the forthcoming All-Ireland series.

Be it Roscommon or Meath that Louth face in their opening match of the All-Ireland series, the criteria for the venue selection ought to be where the Reds have the greatest chance of succeeding – and, clearly, that is Ardee.

Gate revenue, satisfying Croke Park or the visiting county, optics, prawn sandwiches or half-time lattes cannot come into this from a Louth perspective and though the ultimate decision over scheduling matters lies with the GAA’s CCCC, the strongest possible representation should come from officials in Darver.
