A VERY under-strength Albion Rovers side took to the field on Sunday and finished on the wrong side of a 5-0 result away to Torro United in the NEFL Women’s Premier Division.

It was 2-0 to the hosts at half-time and as the game wore on Torro began to kick on and pick off a further three goals, with Albion not helped by an absence of any available substitutes.

In the Women’s First Division, Duleek played out a 2-2 draw away to Trim Celtic, with all four goals scored in the first half.

At a glorious Tully Park, it was the hosts who hit the front on 12 minutes and they doubled their lead at the start of the second quarter.

However, Duleek hit back on the half-hour mark when Molly Brodigan, fresh from a brace the previous week, played through Hannah Gartland and she fired home to halve the deficit.

Duleek continued to push forward and just before the break they won themselves a penalty and captain Robyn James stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the game.

With only 11 players, Duleek became more defensive as the game wore on, trying to hit Kells on the counter, but they had to settle for a draw.

Elsewhere, Ardee Celtic took the lead away to Dunshaughlin Youths on Sunday but were ultimately beaten 3-1.

Katie Hall played a great through-ball for Caoimhe Carolan to fire home, but two quick-fire goals in the space of seven minutes had the hosts in front and as Ardee pushed forward for a leveller they conceded a third with 11 minutes to go.
