The charges relate to a fatal road traffic collision Clones, Co Monaghan on July 31 last year that claimed the lives of teenagers Kiea McCann (17) and Dlava Mohammed (16).

The two teenagers, who had been best friends for years, were tragically killed when the car they were travelling in hit a tree on a section of the N54 at Legnakelly near Clones.

The students, of Largy College in Clones, were on their way to their Debs ball in the Westenra Arms Hotel in Monaghan.

McGinn also faces another charge of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to Dlava’s sister Avin Mohammad who was injured in the crash.

This morning’s scheduled court appearance comes after McGinn initially appeared before Judge Raymond Finnegan in March.

On that occasion, the court was told the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had directed that the case be heard on indictment in the circuit criminal court.

It’s anticipated a book of evidence will be served on McGinn later this morning, formally rubberstamping those directions ahead of a possible court date later this year.
