Sligo man (36) pleads guilty to money laundering and cocaine charges

A 36 year old man has pleaded guilty to money laundering and the possession of cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply.

Keith Harris, Meadowvale, Sligo had pleaded guilty at Sligo Circuit Court in February to one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply at Meadowvale, Sligo on January 16, 2022.

At last Thursday’s circuit court, he was arraigned and pleaded guilty to further charges before Judge Kenneth Connolly.

He pleaded guilty to possession of benzocaine (mixing agent) at Meadowvale, Sligo on January 16, 2022.

Harris also pleaded guilty to engaging in converting, transferring, handling, acquiring, possessing or using property which was the proceeds of criminal conduct to wit €5,800 knowing or believing or being reckless as to whether or not the said property was the proceeds of criminal conduct at the same address and same date.

He further pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine for the purpose of selling or otherwise at Meadowvale, Sligo on January 16, 2022.

Mr Leo Mulrooney BL (prosecuting) with State Solicitor Ms Elisa McHughy told the court Harris was pleading guilty to three further counts, four, five and six on a full facts basis with the remaining counts taken into consideration.

Harris is also charged with two counts of possession of a weighing scales at Meadowvale on January 16, 2022 and also possession of cocaine. Mr Colm Smyth SC with Mr Keith O’Grady BL appeared for Harris.

Judge Connolly remanded him on continuing bail to the July 9 sitting of the Circuit Court for sentencing.

There was no objection to bail. The Judge directed preparation of an up-to-date Probation Report.
