Local Elections Campaign Launch

Local councillor Barbara-Anne Murphy will hold her Local Elections Campaign Lauch in River’s Edge on Thursday, May 9 at 8 p.m.

Minister for State TD Jack Chambers will be there to launch Barbara-Anne’s campaign. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the music and chat on the evening.

Ryano’s Rally Lauch Night

Half-Way-House/Bunclody Legend Noel Ryan’s Rally to visit every GAA Club in County Wexford in 24 hours will be launched in River’s Edge on Friday, May 3, at 9 p.m. All proceeds in aid of Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club Park Development.

Colin Byrne Bursary

The Colin Byrne Bursary Bar-B-Que and Fun Day will be held at Murphy’s Tig Leath Slí on Sunday, May 5, starting at 3 p.m. There will be Tug of War, music, Kids Face Painting and Entertainment. Music by Dylan and Jodie, James Reed and Freeway.

GAA lotto

There was no jackpot winner of last week’s Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 3, 20, 23 and 25. Joanne Kenny was the one lucky match-three winner and scoops €100.

The next draw takes place on Tuesday, May 7, in Lennon’s, Bunclody when the jackpot will be €6,000.

Kildavin-Clonegal GAA

Kildavin-Clonegal GAA Club presents Robert Mizzell and Stacey Breen on Sunday, May 5, in Spellman Park Kildavin. This is an indoor dance with a large dance floor, licenced bar and food on the night. Tickets €25 on sale locally or on the door on the night.

Clohamon five A Side Tug-of-War

Clohamon five a side street Tug-of-War promises to be a great fun event taking pace on Sunday, June 2. The Tug-of War starts at 4 p.m.

Registration of teams from 3 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.

All teams of five welcome, men’s and ladies competitions – no mixed teams.

Runners/trainers to be worn by all participants. Three metre pull.

Winners and runners-up will be presented with medals on the day,

Winners will receive a perpetual Cup.

There will also be a barrel of beer which entitles all participants to a free pint in the Village Bar Clohamon.

Tug-of-War will be followed by music in the Village Bar from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Bunclody Horticultural Society

Bunclody Horticultural Society’s next event with be with Brona Dore in River’s Edge, Bunclody on Thursday, May 16, at 8 p.m. with her talk on ‘Growing to eat – for one or two.’

Brona has been gardening since childhood, living in a garden filled with fruit and vegetables. She is now living in Wexford where she continues to have something from the garden on the table every day of the year.

Bunclody Tidy Towns

Bunclody Tidy Towns group have been busy doing major litter picks in the area on Saturday mornings, weather permitting, followed by a sociable coffee and scone in River’s Edge.

The Mall Market

The Mall Market has returned to Market Square and will be there on the first and last Saturday of each month, weather permitting.

On sale will be a mixture of vintage and new items – Bunclody honey, Cranes potatoes, no added sugar brown bread, jams (Sliabh Bhuí jams have no artificial pectin), cakes, Bakewell tarts, apple tarts, a selection of hand knits, children’s toys, JT Plants and flowers, hand sewn toys bags, dog bandanas and jewellery.

Do come along for a browse and a chat.

Badminton

Bunclody Badminton Club continues to welcome new members on a Thursday evening at 8 p.m. in the Sunday School, beside St Mary’s Church.

The club arranges playing time, coaching, introducing new players to the basics of the sport, as well as putting teams together and organising friendly matches with other clubs. For more information, call or text Áine at 087 6418702. Youth badminton also continues on Thursdays at 7 p.m.

Star Wars Lego Challenge for ages 8 and over takes place on Thursday, May 2, from 3.30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

To celebrate Stars Wars Day, we are holding a special Star Wars Lego Challenge. Can you create a new spaceship for Luke Skywalker? Why not make a new planet for the stormtroopers? Pick a Lego challenge card and create something amazing. Booking essential.

Baby Playtime – Friday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to midday.

Home Energy Saving Kits are now available to borrow from Bunclody Library. The kits contain a range of tools/exercises to help householders make sense of the energy they consume on a daily basis and to identify possible problem areas. Do you want to test your home for radon? Digital radon monitors are available to borrow for a period of four weeks from Bunclody Library, all you need is your library card.

Every Saturday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sensory Friendly Quiet Hour is observed in the library.

Split-the-pot

Kilmyshall split-the-pot envelopes are available from HWH Shop, Steemers, Cahill’s hardware, D & M Laundrette, Glanbia, Redmond’s Bar, Byrnes Hardware Ryland Lower, Kilmyshall parish office and Kilmyshall School.

The pot is split between Kilmyshall School and the parish. Draw takes place every Friday. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.

Kilmyshall/Bunclody Medjugorje Pilgrimage

The annual Kilmyshall/Bunclody Pilgrimage to Medjugorje departs Thursday, October 3, at 7.30 a.m. (from Dublin to Dubrovnik Airport). Returning Thursday, October 10, to arrive in Dublin at 3.30 p.m.

The cost, including Aer Lingus flights, Transfers, Travel Insurance and Half Board, is €835. Accommodation is located close to the shrine.

Pilgrimage to Garbandal

A pilgrimage to Garbandal takes place from Sunday, June 16, to Wednesday, June 19. The cost is €250 per person sharing or €330 single. That includes bus transfers from Santander to Garbandal, accommodation and full board. You book your own flight with Ryanair, from Dublin to Santander on Sunday, June 16 (the flight is at 5.55 a.m.) and returning on Wednesday, June 19. Contact Margaret Byrne at 087 7552935.

Bunclody Baby and Toddler Group meets on Wednesdays from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m., term time only. The group meets in the Pastoral Centre, Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Main Street, Bunclody.
