Pete the Vet: Skin growths in elderly dogs are very common

Jacko recovered well from his surgery, with minor scars.

Jacko was a fifteen year old Jack Russell terrier who belonged to an elderly lady. His problem was obvious as soon as he came into my consult room. He had over a dozen small growths on the skin along his back and on his head. A couple of them had been bleeding, creating reddish streaks in his white fur.

His owner spoke sadly: “It’s obvious that he has cancer, so I’m afraid this is his last visit to the vet”.
