Adamstown I.C.A. news

Last Thursday 18th April, Michael Fortune gave a talk in the Community Centre. It was a very interesting evening exploring Wexford traditions and customs. From Pisheogs, the May Bush, Traan water, May Dew & Rain to the same traditions being carried out by Irish communities in Newfoundland, Canada. MIchael covered it all. He was interested to hear stories from Adamstown residents and recorded Callie Doyle reciting The Wren verse from her youth, which can be seen on Folklore.ie. His book ‘The Folklore of Wexford’ is on sale and has some great stories about the various Wexford customs. Michael is very passionate about Folklore, but in particular, Wexford folklore. He is organising ‘The County Wexford May Bush Festival’ in Ballindaggin from April 30th to May 4th.

A lovely evening was had by all, and tea & biscuits were provided by the ladies of the ICA. The ICA Federation A.G.M.
