Family Fun Cycle

Foulksmills Tidy Towns are hosting a 5km Family Fun Cycle on Sunday 12th May at 12pm for Bike Week 2024. This is a free event and booking is essential. Helmets and hi-vis vests are necessary as this event is taking place on a public road.

Refreshments and music will take place afterwards in the Park and there will be spot prizes on the day. For enquires and booking, please contact foulksmills.tidytowns@yahoo.ie or see our social media for any further details.

Foulksmills Duck Race is 40!

2024 is a very special year for Foulkmsills Tidy Towns as the Duck Race celebrates it’s 40th Birthday. Come and join us on Wed 17th July at 6pm on the banks of the River Corach to celebrate this milestone.

This year’s attractions include: Children’s Fancy Dress, Milk Daisy the Cow, River Boat Rides, Fishing for Bottles, River Balls, Win a Cake, Hook a Duck, Duck Bowles, Giant Soccer Darts, Chuck-a-Duck, Hang Tough and lots more.

The main attraction is the Duck Racing with the feature race on the night The Sweepstakes Race. The prizes for each race are restaurant vouchers for restaurants in the area. The races have full commentary from the banks of the River Corach.

The final race of the night is the human river race. You might want to bring some spare clothes! There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained for an evening of fun and cráic on the Banks of the River Corach.

Foulksmills Tidy Towns Art Competition

Foulksmills Tidy Towns is delighted to announce the launch of the 2024 Art Competition as part of our 40th Duck Race birthday celebrations.

The competition is open to Primary school children. The title of this year’s competition is ‘Foulksmills Duck Race’. Closing date for entries: Monday 1st July–original artworks only and the artwork has a maximum size A4 which also must be landscape.

Please include on the back of the artwork: Artist Name, School, Class, Parent guardian name/contact number or email. The closing date for entries is Mon 1st July. Entries can be sent by post to the Secretary Foulksmills Tidy Towns, Foulksmills, Co. Wexford. Further enquires can be emailed to: foulksmills.tidytowns@yahoo.ie.

BBCT Community Games

Another busy week, but some great results for the kids competing in Community Games in our area.

The Gymnastics took place last weekend with Eimhin O’Sullivan and Izzy Kilkenny competing. Eimhin was placed 1st in her age category.

The Handball also took place with Harry Hogan, Boo Murphy, Nathan Lawlor, Mikaela Kavanagh and Barry Foley playing. Harry, Boo and Nathan are all through in the county.

The athletics which is always a popular event took place during the week and lots of kids through to county event which is taking place in Enniscorthy on 22nd June.

Best of luck to our U10 draughts team travelling to Longford for Leinster finals and also Loughlin Daniels who is competing in the cycling on grass event this weekend.

DATES FOR THE DIARY–One of our final events which you can still take part in, is the Talent competition, if anyone is interested please get in touch with Phyllis on 087 996 6185 or Maria on 086 194 3483. Talent final is on in Bree on 11th May and the talent covers: solo & group music, solo & group singing, dance and solo recitation.

BBCT community games fundraiser will take place on Wed 1st of May. We have some lovely prizes which are: 1st prize Hamper, 2nd prize €50 voucher, 3rd €50 Aroma Beauty voucher & 4th €25 sports direct voucher. Tickets can be purchased through Revolut to 087 951 4774. The closing date for receipt of entries is 4pm 30th April.

Taghmon Athletic Club News

The Enniscorthy Athletics club open track & field events took place last Saturday, with some great results from out athletes. Izzy Aspel was 1st in high jump and 2nd in 100m. Tatum Claughan placed in all three events coming 2nd in the 80m, 1st in the shot putt and 3rd in the 700m. Kayleigh Butler came 2nd in high jump and 3rd in the 800m. Katie Rose Mullins came 1st in her 80m heat and 5th in the final, 3rd in the 500m and competed in the long jump. Alannah Butler placed 3rd in her 80m heat and 5th in the final, she was also 5th in the 300m and competed in the long jump. Great achievements once again from all who attended.

Izzy Aspel and Kayleigh Butler qualified for the South Leinster school track & field events in SETU Carlow. Izzy was 2nd in the minor girls long jump and also 7th in the 800m. She also took part in the relay team representing Ramsgrange Secondary School. Kayleigh Butler competed in the high jump and her relays team representing Presentation Secondary School placed 2nd. She also placed 7th in the 1500m. Well done to both girls.

Training also continues every Wednesday at 6:30pm. We will concentrate on shot putt and turbo javelin with the kids this week, new members are always welcome. Finally, Spring into Summer started yesterday, Mon 29th of April, 7pm-8pm, all fitness levels welcome and continues into the weeks ahead.

Camogie

Two members of the club, Kate Flood and Erin McDonald were on the Co. Wexford Minor team who drew with Dublin on Saturday last, This was the 2nd All Ireland final for these girls, having reached the School Senior All Ireland in Feb. Hopefully the replay will bring good fortune to the girls.

Well done also to Aoife McDonald on U14 Wexford panel and to Aibhe Kehoe on the U 15 panel, both playing in challenge games over the weekend

Ramsgrange Active Retirement Group

Anyone interested in joining a fun group that does a lot of activities together are welcome. Just come along to a meeting and check us out. Regular activities include swimming, social evenings, cinema visits and day trips. We have a regular monthly newsletter for our members with various items in it to keep us amused and inform us of group activities.

We will be off on our annual holiday to Belfast on on 6th May so our next monthly meeting will be on Monday 13th May in South West Wexford Family Resource Centre at 2pm. All are welcome.

Forthcoming events are our trip to Avondale House Co Wicklow on June 12th, with a guided tour of house and tree top walk; then on July 10th we visit Altamont Gardens in Carlow We will go on our Mystery Tour at the beginning of September. This is always a much anticipated trip, with members trying to guess where we are going this year.

Country Market

Fethard on Sea Country Market will take place in St. Mary’s Hall from 10.30-12 on Saturday 4th May. All the usual produce on sale

Bank Holiday Sunday Fun Day

St. Mogues Coiste na nOg May Bank Holiday Sunday Fun Day will take place on the Sunday 5th May.

There will be something for every member of the family including an Arts and Crafts Fair and GAA displays, Bottle Stall, Hook a Duck, Beat the Buzzer, Milk the Cow, a Building competition and a children’s Art Competition.

In addition to the cake stall, we will return with the Brown Bread Competition judged by Nancy Colfer. Entries must be dropped into St. Mogues GAA Club with a name and number before 1.30pm on 5th May.

There will be a monster raffle thanks to the generous support of local businesses and residents, tickets still available from Diane O’Connell or from Brid in the Post Office.

Finally, but most importantly, the Treasure hunt will take place around 3.30pm, tickets for the Treasure Hunt must be booked in advance and cost €5 per child. Contact Michelle on 087 9908115 to book a place.

St. Mogues Rounders Club first mixed adult session is on Saturday 11th May at 4.30p.m. at the GAA Pitch in Ramstown. All are welcome.

Fethard Split the Pot

After 3 years of being involved as the organiser of the Split the Pot as well as working tirelessly to keep Fethard village spotless Josephine Kehoe is moving on to the next chapter of her life. Her friendly manner made her very popular with the residents who all wish her all the best for the future.

Congratulations to Robbie Molloy, this fortnight’s winner of Split the Pot. Thanks to all who participated, to the businesses who have the buckets, without whom we couldn’t do it. St Mogues Coiste nan Og

Congratulations to the Moguegeen Gaels U15 Football Team who won the Wexford Div 3 Feile Final recently. Well done to all involved.

Plant Sale

The Ballycullane Veggie Group are having their annual plant sale in Ballycullane Parish Hall on Saturday 11th May at 10am to 2pm. Flowers, vegetable and fruit plants will be on sale and teas will be served.
