The sixth class boys and girls from Danescastle National School, who also play hurling and camogie for Bannow-Ballymitty, thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Saffron County on Saturday despite the disappointment of Wexford Senior hurlers losing to Antrim in Corrigan Park, Belfast.

Thanks to Cumann na mBunscol, the children had the opportunity to play an Antrim selection in mini hurling and camogie games at half-time in the match.

Both sides proved too strong for the Antrim teams and emerged victorious.

The children were accompanied by their principal and teacher, Áine Kennedy, and many parents, while Kevin Waters, Chairman of the Rackard League, was there to support them.

They were given a warm welcome by members of Cumann na mBunscol Antrim, and each child was presented with a commemorative medal to mark the occasion.

Following the match, the children had the opportunity to meet some of the Wexford and Antrim players as well as commentator Marty Morrissey.

They are very thankful to the Rackard League for giving them this wonderful experience, with memories made to last a lifetime.

Hurling team: Olly Boggan, David John Wade, Gregory Neville, Ryan King, Aidan Breen, Liam Diskin, Ethan Sinnott, Niall Roche, Fionn Martin, Kaleb O’Sullivan.

Camogie team: Aoife Doyle, Niamh Doyle, Leah Gallagher, Éibhín O’Dwyer, Ella McGrath, Marlena Kelly.
