Youths Division 2

Ferns United captured the Youths Division 2 title on Monday afternoon with a 4-1 win over local rivals Camolin Celtic in Clone.

Goals in the opening quarter, from Alex Murphy and Killian Tierney, gave the hosts a 2-0 advantage, but Alex Carton pulled one back for Camolin in the 27th minute, with the visitors needing a victory to keep the title race alive.

The hosts were quickly back on the front foot, however, and Murphy grabbed his second before the break to restore the two-goal cushion, while Tierney also doubled up, netting their fourth goal ten minutes into the second-half.

WFL Stanno Youth Cup

Castledockrell United and Gorey Rangers will meet in the final of the Wexford Youth Cup after they came through their respective final four ties in Patrick Mernagh Park on Saturday.

Premier Division champions Castledockrell proved much too strong for Gorey Celtic, running out comprehensive 5-0 winners.

Two Cormac Casey goals had them 2-0 up midway through the first-half, and Colin Ivers bagged a double of his own to give them a healthy four-goal advantage at the break. Ivers completed his hat-trick in the 63rd minute as United moved within one game of the double.

Gorey Rangers had a much tougher test against Campile United, with an 82nd-minute Tom Funge goal earning them a 1-0 win over the Youths Division 3 winners, who played superbly, despite missing influential duo Tom Dempsey and Rob Foley due to injury.

Under-19 Cup

New Ross Town joined North End United in the final of the Under-19 Cup after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Shamrock Rovers at Wexford CBS on Friday evening.

Stephen Wallace fired Rovers in front ten minutes before the break, but Cathal Sheehan equalised for New Ross Town in the 55th minute.

Darragh Harris put the Enniscorthy side back in front and they looked home and hosed when Jamie Pepper made it 3-1 with ten minutes remaining.

The Barrowsiders had other ideas, however, and they grabbed a lifeline through a Jamie Hudson goal before Jack Walsh then hit the back of the net to force extra-time.

Neither side could find the net in the two additional periods, so it was left to penalties to see who would progress to the final, with New Ross Town goalkeeper Michael Hearne pulling off some superb saves as his side prevailed 5-4 on spot-kicks.
