The father of Nadine Lott from Arklow, Co Wicklow has expressed his family’s relief that her killer, Daniel Murtagh, withdrew a bid to overturn his murder conviction, saying it spared them having to “relive Nadine’s pain and suffering”.

Murtagh, who was sentenced to a mandatory life sentence in 2021 for the 2019 murder of his ex-partner, was due to have a hearing at the Court of Appeal earlier this month, which he did not attend and was not required to do so.
