Those of a certain vintage will relish the opportunity to visit Greystones’ Whale Theatre, on Saturday, May 11, as The Frank and Walters take their intimate acoustic tour to town.

It’s hard to believe that the jangly pop band who brought such joy and optimism to the masses when they formed back in 1989, are still on the road with a back catalogue of hundreds of songs penned over three decades. Renowned for their captivating performances, The Frank and Walters will enchant audiences, this time out with a two- piece stripped-back renditions of their beloved hits from a total of seven studio albums.

The band were founded in Cork and the founding members – including brothers Paul and Niall Linehan – had an “eccentric personality which went well with the music they produced”, according to their bio.

While initially, it was more of a family band, the search for members widened over time and the line-up changed over the years. Recently, their music captured a whole new audience when their ‘90’s hit single After All featured on the cult comedy show ‘The Young Offenders’.

And as well as being able to recall stories of Radiohead and Suede supporting the Frank and Walters on early tours, their recent single featured Peaky Blinders Cillian Murphy doing a voiceover on the track Stages.

On this tour, Paul will be sharing some of the stories behind the songs and anecdotes from the “hippy diddly crazy world of life in one of Ireland’s most enduring bands”. And you can expect to hear hits such as After All and Fashion Crisis hits New York coupled with timeless classics like How can I exist and Landslide.

“It’s been a while since we’d done any acoustic gigs so we've dusted off our acoustic guitars and I can’t wait to share the songs and stories with our fans, old and new,” Paul said.
