Primark is seeking to fill vacancies for its Penneys store in Bray, County Wicklow, which is due to open at the Bray Central shopping centre this summer. The roles, for retail assistants and an assistant manager, are advertised as being permanent, with the retail assistant jobs listed as part-time, and the assistant manager role open to those looking for a full-time position.

While an official opening date has still to be confirmed for the Bray store, the unit at the town centre shopping plaza was handed over to Penneys in March for the store fit-out, with doors expected to open to customers this summer.

In terms of salary and benefits and the type of person the retailer is looking for, Primark said it is offering a salary €12.70 per hour plus premium Sunday rates for its retail assistant roles. It is also offering "flexibility with accommodating shifts”, as well as a pension scheme, in-store employee discounts, well-being initiatives and an employee assistance programme, as well as “generous holidays” based on your hours, as well as opportunities to progress your career internationally

The role entails assisting customers with things like sizes, styles, purchases, or returns; setting up the shop floor; tidying fitting rooms, keeping up to speed on all the latest fashions, as well as keeping a tidy and well-organised stockroom.

Potential candidates will also be expected to deliver a fast, friendly, efficient experience at till points, processing queries, voids, and returns; receive, unpack and check off new deliveries.

Candidates for the retail assistant roles are expected to be passionate about people and strong communicators, with good organisational skills and attention to detail, as well as being interested in fashion and the latest looks.

There is no indication as to the number of roles that are vacant as yet.

The assistant manager role is to support the store manager (deputising when required) to lead the store team in creating “an exceptional store environment and customer experience that drives commercial performance to maximise sales”.

The potential candidate will also be expected to develop a “high performing team by creating a great place to work with highly engaged colleagues”.

Applicants will also need to have acquired demonstrable experience in Primark, having reached department manager level, or have previous experience of a similar level gained within a high volume, fast-paced environment.

There is no salary specified for the assistant manager role.

The new Bray store will be Penneys’ first in County Wicklow, and its 38th store in Ireland, and will be a sizeable outlet spanning some 19,600 square feet. Interested applicants can browse career opportunities on the Primark website. No closing date for applications for either role is yet specified.
