The Wicklow County Council Library Service has proudly announced its acquisition of seven Cyrillic and seven Arabic keyboards for use in a selection of libraries across the Garden County.

Available at the Arklow, Ballywaltrim, Baltinglass, Blessington, Bray, Greystones and Wicklow town libraries, the keyboards will provide convenient access to library computers for the multitude of library users who communicate through the broadly used Cyrillic and Arabic alphabets.

The European University Institute estimates that the Cyrillic alphabet is utilised by more than 250 million people across 50 languages, while the ancient Arabic alphabet is used ubiquitously across vast swathes of Asia, Africa and beyond.

“The keyboards are for library use only and can be plugged into any of the public access PCs in the branches listed,” a Wicklow County Council Library Service spokesperson said.

“Enquire at circulation desks, and a member of staff will assist you!”
