The talented footballers of Coolkenno came through a busy and entertaining day of football in Ballinakill to be crowned Division 3 champions of a wonderful Wicklow LGFA Féile.

Four clubs descended on Ballinakill to do battle for this title with some cracking, high-scoring clashes unfolding over the next few hours.

Coolkenno got their campaign up and running with a 1-3 to 0-1 win over Clan na Gael.

Clara enjoyed a 5-2 to 3-1 victory over Clan na Gael in their second game while Coolkenno’s threat was there for all to see when they came out on top of the Clara girls by 3-3 to 1-4.

Ashford got off to a winning start by edging past Clan na Gael by 3-1 to 2-2 and they followed that up with a cracking 6-2 to 3-2 win over Clara.

These results sent the Coolkenno girls on a collision course with Ashford and after a pulsating decider it was the Carlow border side who emerged as champions on a score of 2-6 to 2-1.
