The Coláiste Bhríde U14 camogie team gave a fine display of skill and determination in their Leinster quarter-final battle against Coláiste na Sionna from Banagher in Offaly last week.

After full-time and extra-time, the teams could not be separated, and the game will be replayed in the coming weeks.

A strong start for Coláiste Bhríde left them ahead by 0-3 to 0-1 after 10 minutes. Banagher and Carnew went score for score and finished out the first half level at 1-6 to 2-3.

Coláiste Bhríde were firing on all cylinders from the very start of the second half where three goals from Clodagh Doyle and points from Maebh Molloy and Emily Wafer widened the gap between the teams.

Despite Carnew’s strong start, Banagher showed great resilience and after an entertaining 60 minutes the teams ended level once again, with a last-gasp free levelling the game for Banagher.

It can’t go unsaid that the Carnew defenders were outstanding on the day. A solid performance from Ruby Dixon, Thea Mutton and Colleen Gregan contributed to Carnew’s result.

Banagher were hungry going into extra-time and after a powerful first half from the home side, Carnew were a goal down at half-time.

Star players on the day, Danielle Shannon and Maebh Molloy, showed great confidence in the second half, with a superb goal from Danielle and the levelling point from Maebh Molloy with the last puck of the game to bring it to a replay.

An entertaining and dramatic game for all the supporters ended in a draw once again. The teams will go again in the coming weeks.
