Wicklow U16 camogie team get their All-Ireland ‘C’ campaign off to a flying start with victory over Tyrone

The Wicklow U16 camogie team got their All-Ireland ‘C’ championship campaign off to a winning start on Sunday afternoon when they proved too strong for Tyrone.

Brocagh Emmetts GAA Club on the shores of Lough Neagh was the venue for this match, and after an early start on the journey north, the Wicklow girls got straight down to work and took the game to Tyrone.

The Garden County side reaped great returns from their efforts as they were ahead at half-time by 3-8 to 1-1.

Wicklow opened the scoring in the second half when adding another goal and remained in control until the end, finishing winners at 5-14 to 1-5.

Super performances around the field and a great opening to the championship for these girls who welcome Mayo to Wicklow for Round 2 next Sunday.
