Public meeting taking place over selection stage for N81 improvement scheme

Wicklow County Council is progressing the development of the N81 Improvement Schemes in conjunction with Kildare National Roads Office, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Department of Transport, with an information day lined up for Wednesday.

The improvement schemes involve the N81 Whitestown Lower project and N81 Hangman’s Bend and Tuckmill project

These projects aim to address road deficiencies contributing to the poor road safety record on the network over the last 15 years. The project team are progressing the planning and design of the project in accordance with the TII Project Management Guidelines. The project is currently at Option Selection Stage Phase 2.

The public, stakeholders and interested parties are invited to attend and view information at this options selection stage for the N81 Improvement Scheme. This non-statutory consultation event takes place on Wednesday, March 27 in Inis Fail Germaines, Main Street, Baltinglass and will provide an opportunity for feedback and observations to be submitted regarding the process and conclusions reached to date, which may inform the further development of the scheme in the next phases. Members of the project team will be available to provide guidance and to answer questions at the meeting which runs from 2pm to 8pm.

Wicklow County Council values the opinion of the community on this project and welcomes feedback and submissions from the public and interested parties. The knowledge gained from the engagement will be considered by the project team as part of the next stages of the development of the scheme.

Chief Executive, Emer O’Gorman, said: “The knowledge gained from the engagement will be considered by the project team as part of the next stages of the development of the scheme.”

The public display documents will also be available to view on the project website www.N81whitestownandtuckmill.ie from 2pm on Wednesday, March 27.

Submissions will be accepted via the online feedback form available on the project website www.N81whitestownandtuckmill.ie or by post marked as N81 Improvement Scheme Whitestown Lower and Hangman’s Bends submission addressed to the Senior Executive Office, Transportation, Infrastructure Development and Emergency Services Department, Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Whitegates, Wicklow Town, A67 FW96.

Submissions will be accepted up until the deadline of Friday, April 26.
