Jadon Sancho insisted he is not thinking about his future after last night eclipsing Kylian Mbappe to help Borussia Dortmund seize advantage in their Champions League semi-final.

Sancho starred as underdogs Dortmund beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 and looked a completely different player to the one left out in the cold by Manchester United.

His electric display left many fans asking why United backed Erik ten Hag over him.

The Old Trafford boss has made it clear that on-loan Sancho has no future at United while he remains in charge, but there are major doubts over whether the Dutchman will still be at the club next season. That could open up the possibility of a return to United for Sancho.

Last night might also have sparked transfer interest from other top European clubs, with United open to selling the majority of their first-team players in the summer as they plot a huge overhaul of their squad.

“I came [to Dortmund] at 17, they gave me the opportunity to play and I am delighted to be welcomed back and I am focused on the present right now,” said Sancho, whose performance against PSG was described by former United defender Rio Ferdinand as “a joke”.

Sancho completed more dribbles by half-time in front of Dortmund’s ‘Yellow Wall’ last night than he managed in any of his 58 appearances for United after they paid £73million to sign him from the German club in 2021.

TNT Sports commentator Ally McCoist said: “Sancho looks like a different player entirely. His body language is like the player Manchester United bought. He looks rejuvenated.

“It is confidence, he has his mojo back. He is in an environment where he is liked and he looks like a different footballer.”
