‘I can’t fool anyone with that performance’ – Alan Reynolds puts focus on players after Bohemians’ defeat to Galway

Alan Reynolds admits that some of his under-performing Bohemians players are in the last chance saloon after a dismal 1-0 loss at home to Galway United.

There were boos from a section of the home fans in the 4,101 crowd at Dalymount Park, an attendance that included Galway native, President Michael D Higgins, as the away side fully deserved the win which puts them up to fourth but Bohs, who have taken one point from the last three Premier Division games, look to within instead of blaming outside factors.

Reynolds made three changes at half time but while the second half was marginally better, there was no disputing the fact that this was far below the standards set as Galway fully deserved the win on a night when United keeper Brendan Clarke had only two saves to make.

“I will keep in house what was said, one thing for sure is that's not acceptable. I have been here six/seven weeks now, and at times people need to have a look at players, I am not trying to throw players under a bus, I will look at myself and reflect but we have to be a lot better than that,” Reynolds said when asked what his message to the players was after the game.

“The good teams, the big teams down the years, they always turn up, Friday/Monday they back it up and produce, it's ok raising yourself for a Dublin derby and then you come in and give that.

“We can't hide away from that, that's nowhere near what I want, we have five/six weeks to get to a window and improve and make things better but I can't fool anyone with that performance.

“I have given people a chance, no one can come back and say they've not had a chance, I had a look at everyone and we will keep looking at them in the six weeks or so ahead.

“Everyone is on trial, everyone is up for grabs, these players are at a club that I have come into, they either get better or we find better.

“I don't want to be talking about moving players on, I just want them to get better,” the Bohs boss added as his side now face a tough test away to Derry City on Friday.
