Ireland's 7-day weather forecast (April 29th - May 5th)

Cian Ó Broin

Met Éireann has forecast a mix of sunshine and heavy showers with “thunderstorms and hail likely” across the day.

Spells of heavy rain will clear north westwards this afternoon with bright or sunny spells and showers following.

Some showers will be heavy, with thunderstorms and hail likely, particularly across parts of the midlands and west.

Highest temperatures today of 10-13 degrees in mostly moderate southerly or variable winds, strong at times in the north and east before easing later.

Scattered showers will become confined to the south and west tonight, some still heavy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms.

The showers will be more isolated elsewhere, with a mix of cloud and clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees, in light to moderate southeasterly breezes. Patchy mist forming also.

Tomorrow will be a drier day overall with sunny spells and scattered showers, a few possibly heavy in the west and southwest early on in the day.

Cloud will thicken in the east towards evening.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees in mostly moderate southeast winds, decreasing light later. Cloud will continue to thicken from the east on Wednesday night with outbreaks of rain and drizzle pushing in over eastern counties and extending westward overnight.

Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees, in mostly light variable breezes.

Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, potentially heavy with spot flooding possible in parts of the midlands, south and east.

Current indications suggest it will become mainly dry in Ulster with sunny intervals developing in the afternoon on Thursday.

Top temperatures will range from 11 to 15 degrees where the cloud and rain prevails and 16 to 18 degrees where the sun breaks through in the north. Light to moderate variable breezes.

Thursday night will see outbreaks of rain and drizzle will persist across a central swathe of the country with drier and clearer breaks either side, across the southwest and north.

Lowest temperatures of 4-8 degrees in light variable breezes.

Friday will see cloudy conditions with outbreaks of rain and drizzle across the northern half of the country. Brighter and drier intervals across the south with some sunshine.

Maximum temperatures will range of 12-17 degrees in light to moderate westerly or variable breezes.

Current indications for Saturday suggest a good deal of cloud overall with patchy rain and drizzle gradually clearing northwards.

Further rain looks set to move up from the south later in the day, potentially heavy. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in light to moderate variable winds.

For the Bank Holiday weekend, Met Éireann said: “There is more uncertainty than usual for this time period but unsettled conditions seem likely to persist with rain or showers at times.”
