At first, nothing seemed amiss as we approached the small fishing harbour of El Lousa, Tunisia. It was perhaps just a little quieter than you’d expect.

Fishermen were repairing nets and mending engines, boats were coming in and out as normal, but it somehow seemed muted, like someone had turned down the volume of this bustling little port.
