Microsoft has appointed Dell’s long-time Kildare-based executive, Catherine Doyle, as its new general manager for Microsoft Ireland.

The tech giant, which employs over 3,500 people in Ireland, says that Ms Doyle will lead Microsoft’s sales, marketing and services business in Ireland “with a focus on AI-powered digital transformation” across the island of Ireland.

Ms Doyle was appointed managing director for Dell Ireland this time last year. She spent 23 years at Michael Dell’s computer company, working her way up from an entry-level job to various sales, outsourcing and strategic roles before being given the top job last May.

“I am excited to join Microsoft during this pivotal moment as we embrace the transformative power of AI to help organisations across Ireland achieve new levels of efficiency and effectiveness,” she said.

”Microsoft’s culture of innovation, inclusion and social responsibility has always inspired me, and I’m honoured to lead such a talented team. I look forward to driving digital transformation across Ireland, empowering businesses and communities to reach their full potential.”

Microsoft is currently the world’s most valuable company, with a market capitalisation of over $3 trillion.

“I am delighted to welcome Catherine to lead our commercial business in Ireland, driving digital transformation and unlocking new opportunities across the country,” said Joacim Damgard, president of Microsoft Western Europe.

”With her proven track-record of delivering results and building strong relationships, Catherine brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the Irish market. As we advance in this era of AI, I’m confident her passion, energy, and vision will inspire the Microsoft Ireland team, our customers, and our partners to achieve even greater success.”
