Triona McCarthy: From Trinny London’s BFF base to P20's new offerings, the SPF products you need to protect your skin from sun damage

Let’s start with Trinny Woodall’s offering as she was over here recently to launch her Trinny London brand in Brown Thomas and she looked bloody fabulous.

I also love using Garnier BHA + Niacinamide Anti-Blemish Daily UV Fluid (€16.99, boots.ie), which has a very high protection SPF50+ (UVA, UVB and Long UVA) to prevent sun damage. It is great when you have a breakout as it contains BHA (salicylic acid) to visibly reduce blemishes and it has sebum and niacinamide to help soothe and soften the skin.

We all wore Riemann P20 as children in Cork and the brand has really developed in recent years. There are two products available in pharmacies everywhere that have caught my eye: Riemann P20 Urban Shield Face Cream SPF50+ (€30) and Riemann P20 Hyperpigmentation Defence Face Cream SPF50+ (€30). The first one forms an additional barrier against pollution, safeguarding the skin from smog and dust particles while the latter offers protection against sun-induced discolouration and diminishes existing hyperpigmentation on the face and neck. Which is great news for those of us who used baby oil back in the day to get a better tan.
