The Indo Daily: Three damning reports, a TV licence showdown and Doireann Garrihy’s departure – RTÉ’S latest woes

RTE has been the subject of controversy (Liam McBurney/PA)

It's been almost a year since the original story of the RTÉ barter account and Ryan Tubridy’s salary made headlines across the country.

Yesterday three reports on RTÉ added up to 414 pages worth of inquiry, 116 recommendations – and a cost of €570,000.

While a lot is confirmation of what we knew about the culture and governance in Montrose, there are still pressing questions that need answers especially when it comes to the notorious barter account: Who was in charge of it? Who had scrutiny over it and what payments were made out of it?

With 116 recommendations for change, there are tensions between coalition parties on the future funding of RTE - with Catherine Martin and Michéal Martin possibly facing a showdown.

To add to RTE's woes, news broke today that Doireann Garrihy will leave 2FM to pursue a podcast career. With change on the way for the national broadcaster, is RTE still the preferred home for top talent in Ireland?

Today on the Indo Daily, Tabitha Monahan is joined by Fionnan Sheahan, Ireland editor of the Irish Independent, to take us through the latest RTÉ revelations and what these mean for the national broadcaster.
