It was a week to remember this week for young Kerry filmmaker, Ellen McSweeney, after she was named as one of the winners at the recently held Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards which were aired on RTÉ 2 this past Monday evening.

Ellen, who was just one of 17 winners at the awards ceremony, picked up the Best Art Direction award for her short film entitled ‘Summer'.

Her short was described this week as “ a meditation on the hazy summer season, the beauty, nostalgia and joy, but also the dread, the pressure and fear of the future. The summer can't last forever after all.”

The awards, which were filmed in Omniplex Cinema and Troy Studios in Limerick are now available to view on the RTÉ Player. All 42 shortlisted films, made by young people, for young people, can be viewed on the Fresh International Film Festival YouTube Channel.
