Louth’s most ardent Kildare supporter Paul Gibney expects a Wee win in Leinster semi-final

As the sun drenched spectators on the terrace of St Conleth’s Park ahead of the 2013 qualifier, one young Louth supporter turned to the Kildare man on his left and predicted an easy victory for the Lilies.

“Are you half mad?” was the response. Conversation sparked. This wasn’t any ordinary Kildare supporter but a man who lived just outside Ardee and was up-to-speed with Louth football, and able to name-check a host of club players who were good enough to make the grade. One of them was Danny O’Connor of St Patrick’s.
