Three dancers from County Wexford won the Double Jive competition at the All Ireland Jiving Championships in Ballinasloe, Galway recently.

Reece Price from Gorey, Mia Dreelan from Castledockrell and Meaghan Byrne from Ferns were shocked when they were crowned the champions of the Double Jiving competition on Saturday, April 20.

"It’s amazing that they won it, they didn’t expect that at all. They said to one another, it would be lovely if we got placed,” said Meaghan’s mother, Maria Byrne.

Reese and Mia have been a couple for many years but they only met Meaghan last August, 2023 when they started taking jiving classes at Dancing With Declan.

The trio took extra jiving classes in the run up to the competition and they received an almost perfect score of 10/11 in the category. In an unprecedented move during the competition, a dance-off had to be held between the two remaining finalists to determine the winner.
