This year’s Wexford Charity Black Tie Ball, which takes place in the Talbot Hotel on November 30, will raise funds for the Wexford Rape Crisis Centre and Wexford Alzheimer’s Home Help. The event will include a drinks reception and four-course meal with music on the night from local band Wrecking Ball and a DJ.

The Wexford Rape Crisis Centre (WRCC) offers one-to-one counselling to those impacted by domestic, sexual or gender-based violence (DSGBV). Counselling Services are available for adults and young people (aged 12 years and upwards). Parental support is also provided to parents of young people who have been impacted by DSGBV. In addition, WRCC offers support counselling to a partner, family member or friend who is supporting the person who has been abused.

Wexford Alzheimer's Home Help offers dementia specific, person centred with trained dementia care worker visiting the client’s home for a certain number of hours per week. It provides support, activities and practical information to the person with dementia as well as respite from caring for the caregiver.

Its focus is to support the person with dementia in engaging in activities at home and enabling them to remain in their community for as long as possible.

Organiser of the charity ball, Linda Brennan, has set up a GoFundMe to help support these charities in advance of November’s event.

“Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. Thank you in advance for your support,” she said.
