Kilrush Drama Group

Congratulations and well done to Kilrush Drama Group on winning the All Ireland final in Mountmellick on Saturday night, to Niall McGrath for best director and the best stage management, brilliant performances well done to all involved.

Kilrush Drama Group present ‘Matchmakers’ - Kilrush Drama Group will once again be performing the popular one act play ‘Matchmakers’ by Seamus O’Brien in The Bowling Hall, Carnew Community Care on Wednesday 1st May at 7pm. The play is directed by Amanda O’Keeffe and features Willy Murphy, Eileen McCabe, Fergus Garrett, Mary Doran, Clodagh Kenny and Luke Burke.

Kilnenor Historical Society

The Kilnenor Historical Society held their AGM in the May Byrne House on Tuesday 23rd April.

The Chairman Pat Cullen gave his report for the past year, which was followed by a very comprehensive report from the Secretary Elizabeth McCarthy Byrne who detailed all the work of the past year. The treasurer’s report was read by Dan Kennedy, with all reports adopted.

The election of officers followed, with Martin Stephens being elected Chairman, Elizabeth McCarthy Byrne re-elected Secretary and Dan Kennedy re-elected Treasurer.

Work is taking place at present with the identification of graves in the graveyard.

Coolgreany Road

Coolgreany Road Action Committee are holding a public meeting in the May Byrne House on Monday 13th May at 8pm. Everyone is welcome.

The 2km clean-up is ongoing, the Tidy Towns committee are asking residents to come out and help, your help would be greatly appreciated, Gloves and bags are available from Maureen or Marie.

Handball

A 6 week programme has commenced, giving mums and friends the chance to play in a fun, non-competitive environment. No experience or equipment required. Every Wednesday until end of April, 8pm to 9pm. Get fit and have some fun. Everyone welcome.

The Tinahely Craft market is situated in the middle of the village opposite the butchers shop. We have an amazing array of locally made crafts - using locally sourced materials as much as possible.

The crafts include embroidered cards, junk journals & tallow creams, beaded jewellery, artworks, up & recycled textiles, candles and fab woodwork.

Our opening hours are Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Unfortunately this Thursday Friday 2nd and 3rd May we will be closed. Please come along and support your local crafters.

Knockananna Car Boot

Knockananna Car Boot/Craft Market is on Saturday 4th May in the hall, €10 to pitch your stall. Time to Spring clean and declutter and sell your wares. Footfall was very good last month with lots of happy traders and customers. Free tea/coffee to traders and lots of lovely home baking available on the day. Thanks to all who supported us last month.

Alzheimer’s Tea Day

St John’s Caring Centre Hacketstown will host a Tea/Coffee morning on Thursday 2nd May in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, from 11am to 12.30pm. Please come along and support this worthy cause.
