A small business from Wicklow could be one of over 30 companies that get the chance to exhibit as part of this year’s Local Enterprise Village at the National Ploughing Championships in Laois this September.

The largest outdoor event in Europe will see over 300,000 visitors across the three days from September 17 to 19, with the Local Enterprise Village, an initiative of the Local Enterprise Offices, housing small businesses from every sector and from across the country and they are opening applications for businesses to get involved.

The selected business will get the opportunity to exhibit at the event for the full three days and will be fully trained by the Local Enterprise Office team in merchandising, sales and marketing to help maximise their participation at the event.

Year after year, the Local Enterprise Village proves to be one of the most popular destinations and is located right in the heart of the Ploughing Championships.

Cllr Aoife Kennedy Flynn, Cathaoirleach, Wicklow County Council, said: “The Local Enterprise Village at the National Ploughing Championships is a fantastic showcase of superb small businesses supported by their Local Enterprise Offices.

“It is a great opportunity for a small Wicklow business to exhibit in front of up to 300,000 people.”

Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Emer O’Gorman, added: “This is a great opportunity for one small Wicklow business to represent the many great businesses in the county.

“I would encourage anyone interested to get in touch with the LEO Wicklow team, aside from the show itself, there will be invaluable PR, training and marketing support. The value gained by previous participants is a testament to the Local Enterprise Village.”

Head of Enterprise at LEO Wicklow, Vibeke Delahunt, said: “For small businesses, this is a huge opportunity to engage with thousands of prospective customers every day, and this could have a significant impact on its business.

“We will be working with them all across the summer on their products, marketing and merchandising for the event, and we look forward to hearing from businesses who want to get involved.”

Small businesses are being asked to enquire with Local Enterprise Office Wicklow about eligibility to take part and can contact them through email directly to Martin Cullen at mcullen@leo.wicklowcoco.ie
