It wasn’t his best display when landing the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival but State Man has always made a habit of just getting the job done in professional fashion.

He renews acquaintances with Cheltenham runner-up Irish Point – with a length and a quarter separating the pair in March – in today’s Boodles Champion Hurdle (6.0) as the Punchestown Festival moves into the home straight.
