Irish rower Margaret Cremen battled tough cross-headwind conditions to take a silver medal for Ireland at the European Championships in Szeged, Hungary. It was the only medal for Ireland on the day.

The 25-year-old Cork woman competed in the lightweight single sculls, as her partner in the Olympic-qualified lightweight double, Aoife Casey, was not well enough to compete, though she is reported to be back in training.
